Reviews of some of the world's top equestrian competitions are released this month.  A World class field at Burghley Horse Trials, including four former Burghley Champions, competed for this year's title, but with less than 4 penalty points between the top four going into the show jumping, it was a nail biting finish.  The review of Burghley 2007 includes championship highlights, winner's analysis and final results. 

Meanwhile, Olympic Champion, Anky Van Grunsven led the Dutch team to a famous win in the Italian heat at La Mandria, Turin, the venue of the FEI European Dressage Championships.  The best performances of the team competition are shown, with highlights of the winning performance by Isabel Werth in the Grand Prix Special, followed by top tests from the Kur being shown in full.  Once again, Anky Van Grunsven was a decisive winner on Salinero in the Kur, with a performance that was almost foot perfect, gaining her a unanimous decision from all 5 judges.  Essential viewing for all dressage enthusiasts!

Young riders will be delighted with the Disney's new PC game, Royal Horse Show, taking players into a fantasy world of horses and princesses.  There is also a new Pippa Funnell Game, Secrets of the Ranch, to test your skills.

Those looking for training tips should take a look at Fritz Stahlecker's In-Hand-Work For Young Dressage Horses.  Fritz has trained dressage horses up to Grand Prix level and demonstrates his exceptional hand-saddle-hand method.  He shows how even very young horses can learn exercises up to advanced dressage level, enabling the rider to work with a more completely trained horse.

Finally, racing enthusiasts will enjoy The History of Horse Racing, a new double DVD presented by John Francome.  The programme tells the story of fortunes won and lost on horses that became household names, and of the extraordinary and varied cast of characters who have punctuated the sport's history.
